Curriculum Overview

 

This 5-day masterclass introduces participants to the core principles and exercises of the Demidov School through a structured, experience-based progression. Training is designed to help actors release control, engage fully with their partners, and work from a place of internal responsiveness rather than preplanned technique.

 

Daily Focus Areas

 

Day 1–2: Etudes and Perception

  • Working with unplanned etudes to explore unpredictability and connection
  • Cultivating the actor’s perception as the foundation of creative response
  • Experiencing shifts from inner silence to spontaneous impulse

 

Day 3–4: Unblocking and Emotional Flow

  • Removing control mechanisms that inhibit natural reaction
  • Tracking emotional changes and learning to give in to genuine shifts
  • Responding to the partner, environment, and circumstances rather than enacting pre-decided action

 

Day 5: Character and Circumstances

  • Experiencing perception, reaction, and freedom as continuous flow of subconscious creativity
  • Encountering the beginnings of character emergence through subconscious means
  • Witnessing the transformation of actors as creative instruments, not illustrators
